Created in 1862 by Alfan, Daviu and Barillet-Deschamps. The park was originally laid out according to Carmontel's plan around the Foley, built for the Duke of Orleans (the future Philippe-Egalite) in 1778. Expanded and redeveloped by Thomas Blakey in 1793, the park was bought by the Paris Municipality in 1860. The garden is located from the Place de la Bastille (corner of Avenue Domenile and Avenue Ledru-Rollin) to the Bois de Vincennes, has several entrances.
